ALL TIME SUPERFLY JAMS PT. 1 | Wedding Playlist
As DJ's we all have go to songs that replenish any dance floor that may have cooled off a little bit. I look forward to going over unexpected party pleasers for each event I do, but for now I thought I'd share some of my favorite tunes to play throughout the night:
The Meters "Cissy Strut"
This song is the perfect combination of funky, fun and laid back. When you walk into a room and the song is playing its almost impossible to not feel cool. The minimal drums, guitar and bass is perfect for background music, but don't be surprised if you see some people getting their groove on a little early in the night.
Van Morrison "Moondance"
This song has a jazzy lounge feel with familiar vocals guests can quietly sing along to as they enjoy dinner and drinks before the dancing. I always try to keep a buzzing energy in the room to make sure guests don't get sleepy during dinner and this song is just perfect for that.
Reception Dance Songs:
Wild Cherry "Play That Funky Music"
I always dance when this song comes on at weddings and when I play it out I feel like the funky white boy playing the music. This song works for all generations and typically fills the dance floor up pretty well. If you have guests of all ages at your wedding, this song is a must!
LMFAO "Sexy and I Know It"
Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle, Yeah. Something about this tune gets everyone shaking it on the dance floor. If your grandpa has some funky fresh dance moves hes holding back, this song might loosen him up enough to show them off for everyone's enjoyment.
Earth, Wind, and Fire "September"
When I talk with friends and family about "must play" songs for a wedding reception, this song always comes up. This is another one of those cross generational songs that make you start gravitating towards the dance floor as soon as your hear the intro. When the horns kick in, it's a wrap!
That's all for part one of my ALL TIME SUPERFLY JAMS. I'll be keeping a running tally of all these songs plus adding new segments weekly. See you on the dance floor!
